Lessons From A Pandemic

Hi Friends,

First and foremost, I hope you, your family, and loved ones are healthy and safe. I hope you have what you need and are surrounded by who you love. I hope that if you have the means to help others, you are, and if you are in need of help, please let me know if there is anything I can do. I also hope that if you have small children, that they are currently quiet and content and giving you a blissful moment of silence!

It’s been quite a long time since I’ve written you, but you’ve been on my mind a lot. Truthfully, once I became pregnant, all of my energy was directed to creating my little babe. I still continued serving clients, hosting my North Fork retreat (which was magical to say the least), and teaching, but I found it hard to give any more energy than that. I so appreciate you reaching out and sending your love along the way.

Since we last spoke, so much has happened! Holidays have come and gone. Seasons have changed. And our second daughter, Emme Fiora Ham, was born! Not to mention that we are currently living through a Pandemic. Have you heard? ;). Throughout, I’ve been receiving such wonderful messages from the Universe that I have been itching to share with you.

The first and most prominent is that this too shall pass. Nothing is permanent. Even the hardest seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, and years pass. This too shall pass.

Furthermore, even in the toughest moments - the moments that test our patience, resilience, optimism, and hope - there is good. There is peace, blessings, love, and support to be grateful for. Reach for the positives and make space for all of it. You can be happy and sad at the same time.

Get really good at knowing what you need, when you need it, and take it. Take breaks. Ask for help. Run a bath. Go for a drive. Turn on Disney +, throw the kids in front of the TV, and don’t. look. back. Breathe. Now is the time to mute your judgement and practice living the self-care you’ve always wanted. Now is the time for grace - for yourself and for others.

Celebrate the smalls wins. Remember when your to-do list was pages long and you only felt better once everything was crossed off? Time to shift. Set one small task to do each day, and be gracious with yourself when you accomplish it. Today I celebrated shifting my perspective from, “Ew, I have frown lines and need them fixed,” to, “I guess I will now be beautiful with frown lines.” And guess what? Even Botox wouldn’t look as good as practicing acceptance and self love felt.

Don’t wait for things to go back to normal, embrace a new normal. The old way wasn’t working right. Our current circumstances have shined a light on all the darkness in our worlds. This pandemic has shook us up, turned us around, and opened us up to look at our inner and global world’s from a different perspective. Take this as an opportunity to expand your previous way of viewing things, doing things, and being. This is a time to set a new foundation for the life you want, not the one you rushed through.

What you think is bad, may be for the best. What you think is great, may not turn out the way you expected. Be open, without judgement, to all the ways the world is changing around you. Everything is fluid and it’s all leading you to exactly where you’re meant to be. Trust.

Take it one day (or moment) at a time.

I’m here for you.

xx,

J.

If community is something you are craving, let me know. I will be hosting one of my Intimate Group Workshops in May that is focused on your present Pandemic experience and the spiritual practices that can guide you through.

These workshops will be donation-based and a percentage of the proceeds will be sent to local businesses and the Larchmont/Mamaroneck Food Pantry
